Book Series Review (The Belgariad) - Book 1

This will be a look into a book review, for this it will be the 5 book series "The Belgariad" by David Eddings as a whole.

I will look into the series, book by book. Starting with the first: "Pawn of Prophecy".

Without further ado...

Pawn of Prophecy begins on a small farm, revealing us the childhood of a kid known as Garion. As he grows up, his Aunt Pol begins to keep Garion from specific things or incidents, so he continuously is curious about what is so important about why his aunt is being so strict against him.

What happens around Garion's teen years is he is pulled away from the village by the coming of a dark shadow figure, and the strange man Mister Wolf. Soon after Garion meets up with Silk, Barak, and Durnik.

Later, Garion meets the council of Kings and there discovers that Aunt Pol and Mister Wolf are really Polgara and Belgarath, both sorcerers of legend for thousands for years.

The story ends around Garion taking down a boar and somewhat proving himself to the others, after Aunt Pol continuously tries to keep Garion from being in trouble or getting in harm's way.

Pawn of Prophecy does a very good job at stringing you along just to why Garion is so important and what about him means so much to the others.

It is a decent start to the series, if lagging here and there (but that's a little expected in stories).

Overall it keeps your interested throughout the story and is a very good beginning for the series.
